Life is the ninth episode in Season One of Stargate Universe.
Review
The song sings ‘it’s been a worst day since yesterday’ underlining that life on the Destiny isn’t getting any better for the stranded crew even though it’s a day without imminent death for a change. If Time was a return to the more traditional Stargate story albeit told in a creative way, Life is a step outside the Stargate box as it focuses on continuing character arcs and themes. It’s not an easy transition and certainly not an obvious one which leaves me on one hand feeling gratified that the producers are treating me as an intelligent viewer who will get the big picture, and on the other hand, feeling slightly like I’ve been set adrift in a spaceship with no idea of where I am and where I’m going.

Time is the eighth episode in Season One of Stargate Universe.
Review
A combination of clever story-telling, quality acting and imaginative direction takes Stargate Universe to the next level and delivers a quality episode worthy of the title classic. Time definitely demonstrates just what this new Stargate show is capable of achieving.
Earth is the seventh episode in Season One of Stargate Universe.
Review
Earth, more than any previous episode to date, signals the difference between Universe and other incarnations of the Stargate franchise. It is jam-packed with character stories, relationships and moments; so much so that these form the meat of the episode rather than the Earth-driven rescue attempt that provides the action and intrigue. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? From an overall series perspective, I’m not inclined to think it’s a bad thing, but from an episode perspective, there needs to be better balance between the overarching storyline with the character arcs, and the individual episodic plot.

Review
Universe returns to more familiar Stargate territory with the storyline focusing on a classic theme of interesting alien encounters and off-world trouble. The quality of the overall production continues to excel especially in allowing seeds sown in earlier episodes to blossom to fruition. Unfortunately, the story in Water does not match the overall excellence, providing some good ‘moments’ but missing the opportunity to shine.

Summary: SG1 remember General Hammond.
Rating: PG-13
Author's Note: Hammond & SG1 friendship. I've wanted to write a tribute fic in memory of Don S Davis's wonderful General Hammond since Don passed away in June last year. I firmly believe that Don was a vital part of the show and a vital reason for its success. His work has brought me hours of enjoyment and still does. I hope this in some small way says a belated 'thank you' for that. This has Sam/Jack in terms of pairing but it's not the focus of the fic. Spoilers for SG1/SGA's S5. Major character death..

Darkness is the fourth episode in Season One of Stargate Universe.
Review
Darkness is a strangely compelling continuation of Stargate Universe’s first season. Strange because nothing much of interest really happens beyond the lights going out and compelling because of the human interest story being told and the incredible wonder of the Universe itself.
Air Part Three is the third episode in Season One of Stargate Universe.
Review
An episode of contrasts, Air Part Three continues to focus on the renewed vision of Stargate as a tale of every day humans out in the universe dealing with real problems while on the other hand taking a much more serious take on the Stargate universe itself. Good and bad in parts, the overall effect of Air Part Three is to produce something visually wonderful, intriguing and thought-provoking but which isn’t very captivating at times.

Air Part Two is the second episode in Season One of Stargate Universe.
Review
If Air Part One had the enormous task of engaging me in a new Stargate adventure, Air Part Two had the equally enormous task of keeping me interested. The middle episode of a trilogy is always tricky but this one delivers drama as the story focuses on survival and introduces tension through the theme of power plays. It delivers more information about the ship and its mission but just as in the first part, there is a huge attempt to ‘keep it real’ despite the alien setting.
Review
I was eagerly awaiting the beginning of Stargate Universe; new characters, new situations, new everything but with the familiarity of the Stargate franchise. What I did know of the premise half concerned me (a little too Star Trek Voyager in concept; not sure of how they’d make the Stargate central if based on a ship) and half delighted (the idea of placing the characters and their development central to the story-telling, and what appeared to be a great cast). Added to that was my baggage of expectation: it had to be recognisable to me as Stargate. Ultimately, the first instalment of SGU had a lot to deliver if I was going to fall in love with it as a show: luckily, it delivered.
